Metro Green Residential

Jonathan Rose Companies and Malkin Properties have joined together to develop Metro Green Residential, a four-phase premier mixed-income, transit-oriented community that provides high quality, environmentally friendly housing in the City of Stamford and serves as a model for smart growth development in the State.

Metro Green Residential is located one block from the Metro North Stamford Transportation Center, at the corner of Atlantic Street and Henry Street. The development received the LEED Neighborhood Development Gold certification and includes 258 mixed-income residences - units are affordable at 60% AMI or less and 36% of the units are market rate - a new public plaza, new streetscape with custom street light fixtures, new sidewalks and curbside plantings, as well as a private courtyard, meditative labyrinth, and children’s playground serving all residential units on the site. The first phase, consisting of 50 units, Metro Green Apartments, was completed in 2009; the second phase, Metro Green Residences, consisting of 50 units was completed in 2011; the third residential phase containing 131 units was completed in 2017; the fourth and final phase, including 27 market rate units, was completed in 2020.

Environmentally responsible features at Metro Green Residential feature a rainwater harvesting system, high-performance building envelope, energy-efficient mechanical systems, as well as green building materials including recycled and low-VOC components. The first three phases have received LEED New Construction Gold Certification. Metro Green Apartments has a 55kw rooftop solar installation that generates approximately 50% of the common area electrical usage at Metro Green Apartments.
